Story by Paul J. Salamoff and William F. Nolan
Art by V. Kenneth Marion and Cesare Tatarelli
Publisher Blue Water Comics
I don’t cover a lot of Blue Water Comics – disagreements abound, but the Logans Run series has become my most favorite exception to any rule I set down. This is the second series in the Logans Run comic book drama published by Blue Water. Overall this is the best title that Blue Water puts out, one there is a dearth of science fiction comic books out there and two Nolan and Salamoff have really brought the art forward when it comes to telling an amazing science fiction story line. We previously covered the original series by Blue Water and was really disappointed that the TPB dropped off without adding the last few comics from the story line. I am praying that Blue Water lets this story line roam where it needs to go and not push forward with a TPB that is incomplete. That decision has nothing to do with Nolan and Salamoff, but something that comic book readers should be aware of as they plow into this new series by them.
We pick up after the attack on Cheyenne Mountain where the thinkers exist. But we also find out that BOX has a greater part in how the whole Logans Run world exists and works. The goal of this series is that after a brutal defeat at the hands of the thinkers to shut down the cities, Logan still survives, and needs to find a way to finish what he started. This involves reawakening BOX and getting help from the cyborg so that the thinkers can be overthrown and society can resume without the tyranny of the thinkers or the computer designed wombs that humanity has retreated to after the little war. We learn about a new character, one who is going to be a big part of the back and forth story line with a little past, and a little now interspersed throughout the entire story line. This is somewhat an unusual way of telling a comic book story, it is not linear, but it is a brilliant way of interspersing back and now story lines into a comic book. Right now they are on number three that was released in September, so picking up the first three comics is going to be easy. There are both print and e-comic editions so it is available in any format you care to read it in.
I am going to rate this puppy five of five stars, I love Logans Run as a story line, and Salamoff and Nolan really do this story line Justice. And yes the Justice capped is intentional; you will get it as you read the series. There is a lot here to enjoy, the story line is awesome, the letting and art is wonderful, and the way that the story is presented is excellently well done. You can’t argue with that, go pick up a copy, you won’t be disappointed.
